Dos Xtremos

Encouraging Sustainable Tourism at both ends of Spain

Welcome

Unspoilt stretches of Spanish coast do still exist, but to find them you now have to travel to the furthest-flung corners of the Iberian peninsular. As its name suggests, Dos Xtremos specialises in two of these extremes: the wild coast that runs along the top of the province of La Coruña (Galicia) and which includes Spain's northernmost point; and the corner of land that finishes at the Straits of Gibraltar in the province of Cádiz (Andalucía), which includes Spain's (and mainland Europe's) southernmost point at Tarifa.

This is Atlantic Spain, where the ocean breaks onto long, virgin beaches and massive granite sea-cliffs, and where the normally green countryside is streaked with rivers and streams, covered by ancient forests, and is home to a huge variety of wildlife (both permanent and migratory). Here you can watch dog-fights between eagles and marsh harriers with an expert guide, see killer whales chasing tuna out of the Mediterranean, ride the swells off Spain's northernmost rock at Estaca de Bares in a sea canoe, go moonlight climbing and look down over the Straits to Morocco, fly across the Sierra de Cádiz in a hot air balloon, ride a mountain bike up to the edge of Europe's highest sea-cliffs or a thoroughbred through fields of mesmerizing spring flowers, hike across the oldest part of the Iberian Peninsular, windsurf or kitesurf at Europe's premier spot and surf on one of its best waves, or fish on one of Spain's most famous and beautiful trout rivers, and loads more...

Dos Xtremos aims to provide high quality accommodation for visitors to these two areas (we have houses close to the fishing villages of Cedeira in La Coruña and Conil-de-la-Frontera in Cádiz) together with well-researched information on activities available locally that are compatible with sustainable tourism.

The following pages include information and articles on the following activities: cycling, hiking, whale-watching, bird-watching, surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, horse riding, ballooning, kayaking, sailing, climbing, swimming, fishing?.. and if you manage to do all of these, also massage! Dos Xtremos does not work as intermediary with any of the operators for these activities and receives no commission for referrals.
